RECOVERY OF AUTOCHTHONOUS SPECIES
The Palmeral de las Colinas is Las Colinas Golf & Country Club’s sports and leisure park. It houses the sports courts for the exclusive use of the complex’s residents and has the particularity of being mainly made up of palm trees. The project is developed next to the main golf course, on the other side of the Espartal ravine, and is surrounded by the landscaped path that runs through the estate through places of outstanding natural interest.
UTILIZATION GARDENING
The particularity of this project lies in the reuse of a large part of the plant material through a careful process of transplanting more than 250 Washingtonia robusta palm trees; eight Chamaerops humilis palms, some of them with more than nine branches; and five large specimen Olea europaea olive trees. The conception of the project is based on the desire to soften the orthogonal and obligatory lines of the sports courts by means of sinuous strips of indigenous vegetation, and to contrast the materiality and coloring of the hard paving with quilts of pine bark and eye-catching flowers in various shades. Next to the courts, there will be a park that will combine the practice of other sports activities (petanque, table tennis, open-air gym) and a children’s play area.
At present, planting has been carried out to ensure the establishment of palm trees in the park, work has been done around the tracks and the car park, and the park’s facilities are still pending execution. Residents can now practice outdoor sports in a more attractive and refreshing environment
