BUILDING REFURBISHMENT: ENHANCING THE VALUE OF ARCHITECTURAL HERITAGE IN ALICANTE

Integral refurbishment of a protected building from the end of the 19th century for ten dwellings in the historic center of Alicante. Designed in 1863 by the master builder José Chapuí, it is a building between party walls with a ground floor and four stories, with façades on two streets.

The original elements of historical value include the façade and the spiral staircase, the central element and protagonist of the building, topped by a wooden skylight that has been recovered and enhanced. In addition, the railing and wooden beams have been restored and the original paving has been replaced. Some of the walls have been restored to reveal the original masonry of the building.

Excitement and respect for contributing to Alicante’s heritage through this rehabilitation of the building.
